Personalised jewellery is making a piece of jewellery that is just for you, your design, your dream, something that no one else has. It has your history, your emotions and your meaning shaped into something beautiful.
Those personal touches are purely for you, to share with others that you feel might appreciate your sentiment, for the rest it is plays out in a beautiful piece of jewellery.
Currently I am making personalised piece of jewellery that is an absolute first, I have never seen this before in my 33 years in the industry. This gentleman, who is a budding composer, came to me for a wedding ring, after many meetings with him and my jeweller we decided to make him a wedding ring with a song that he composed for his future wife.
It is made from Rose gold and white gold, the notes are cut out.
Taking a piece from the past, from your mum, your grand parent or your childhood and including it in a new piece of jewellery can also be an amazing way to personalise your jewellery.
As an example, I took a blue topaz from a pendant that my wife's grandmother gave her and made it into an amazing art deco style ring for her. Combining pink gold, white gold and diamond.
She now carries with her the beautiful moments that she had with her grandmother all the time.
One of the most recent diamond rings that I made, we repurposed the customer's pendant that she did not wear, it had her 2 children’s finger prints made out of 18ct gold and we included them on the inside of her 3.30ct diamond ring. No one else can see these fingerprints but she has her children’s fingerprint touching her every day.
The list of what we have done for our customers is long and creative, the most significant part of this is that these personalised jewellery piece is made to last for the next generation.
The fear that most people will have when you discuss creating their own personalised piece of jewellery is always the cost. With the modern techniques now available you will be pleasantly surprised by the cost, especially if you have some of the stone or metal to contribute toward the production of the piece.
